New York City’s rock scene is slowly coming back to life with energetic young groups like Quarters on the come-up.

The band is set to release their third yet-to-be-titled album this March via Warner Music Group/Sparta, and have shared a double single for us to check out and get hyped.

“HEADLIGHT” employs prog time signatures with a post-punk crunch akin to The 1975 if they lived in Brooklyn during 9/11, while its counterpart “PERFECT WORD” is a catchy and conventional rocker that weds Vampire Weekend-esque melodies with lush, Jeff Buckley-indebted songwriting and bluesy, Nils Lofgren-style guitar lines. Both songs have no doubt piqued my interest to hear more from a band whose previous works like 2022’s Into The Rift and 2024’s Portraits showcase talent and versatility with unending commercial potential.

“Even though this album making process has been two years long, ‘HEADLIGHT’ came together very quickly and recently,” explains guitarist Jasper Harris. “Our tour came to an end, and we just felt like there was more gas in the tank to write with — so that is exactly what we did. It was fun to create something raw, and not worry so much about over-editing it. It was the perfect way to end the writing cycle.”

“At its core, the song is about watching someone you love drift where you can’t go…… and wrestling with the guilt of not following them,” adds lead singer Ben Roter in regards to “HEADLIGHT.”

The band recently wrapped an EU / UK tour run as support for The Band Camino. In March, they will embark on a North American tour with support from artists including Porch Light, Charlie Burg, Telescreens and more. Their homecoming show at Irving Plaza in NYC will be a two-night stand — their largest feat to date (2,400 tickets).

Listen to both new songs below and watch this space for more news on this talented group.
