It’s been a good 20 years since Peter Gabriel has released a proper studio LP.

But earlier today we got a taste of his long gestating I/O album when the former Genesis frontman dropped his first single since 2016 with “Panopticom.”

“The first song is based on an idea I have been working on to initiate the creation of an infinitely expandable accessible data globe: the Panopticom,” Gabriel explained in a press release. “We are beginning to connect a like-minded group of people who might be able to bring this to life, to allow the world to see itself better and understand more of what’s really going on.”

This “Bright Side Mix” of the track features Brian Eno on synths and bells along with an all-star ensemble of Gabriel’s longtime allies including bassist Tony Levin, drummer Manu Katché, and guitarist David Rhodes.

No further information on I/O is available at press time.
