Low’s Alan Sparhawk Announces New Solo Album

In a recent feature in the New Yorker, Low’s Alan Sparhawk promised a solo album was forthcoming this fall.

Today, the guitarist and singer has announced the details of the album, entitled White Roses, My God. It will arrive on September 27th on Sub Pop, but you can check out the album’s first single, the electronically enhanced “Can U Hear,” along with its accompanying Rick Alverson-directed video, below.

White Roses, My God marks the first new music from Sparhawk since the passing of his beloved wife – Low drummer and vocalist Mimi Parker – on November 5, 2022. Yet these 11 new tracks were propelled just as much from Sparhawk’s need to create and experiment as they were from processing his grief as a widower. Recorded at 20 Below in Duluth, Minnesota, White Roses was co-produced and engineered by Sparhawk and Nat Harvie, and mastered by Heba Kadry.

There will also be a tour in support of the new music as well. In November, Sparhawk will be heading to the UK in November for shows, including an appearance at Pitchfork Music Festival London, before returning to North America for a series of dates opening for Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Sparhawk will then go out on his own tour in the States in early 2025, kicking off on January 13th in Fargo, ND.
