Former Sonic Youth bassist and renowned multidisciplinary artist Kim Gordon is back on the scene with a groovy new LP called The Collective.

The album, her second solo outing following 2019’s No Home Record, will be released via Matador Records on March 8th. The 11-song collection finds Gordon continuing the good work she has been doing with pop producer Justin Raisen, who employs a similar approach he takes to his work with the likes of Lil Yachty, Yves Tumor and Charli XCX, only through a noisier filter.

Just give a listen to the killer lead track “BYE BYE,” the video of which stars the singer’s daughter Coco Gordon Moore and was directed by Clara Balzary, who happens to be the child of another famous bassist, Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Check it out below.

Gordon will also play six live shows around The Collective’s arrival, beginning March 21 in Burlington, Vermont. (full list below).

“She began seeking images from behind her closed eyes,” writes English artist Josephine Pryde in her notes after listening to The Collective. “Putting them to music. But I need to keep my eyes open as I walk the streets, with noise canceled by the airbuds rammed in my ears. Quiet, aware, quiet, aware, they chant at me. What could be going through Kim’s head as she goes through mine?”
