LISTEN: Miranda and the Beat Cause ‘Anxiety’ with Latest Single
New album, Can’t Take It, out Oct. 25
Miranda and the Beat, now based in New Orleans, traveled all the way to a remote village in Germany to cut their latest album Can’t Take It, which comes out Oct. 25 on Ernest Jenning Record Co. via Khannibalism / Wild Honey Records.
Written and recorded in just five days at King Khan’s Moon Studios, the album is filled with R&B sheen and Crypt-style rock ‘n’ roll swagger that brims with the kind of intensity and cool you rarely receive in today’s musical climate.
Miranda Zipse (Lead Vocals and Guitar), Dylan Fernandez (Farfisa and guitar), and Alvin Jackson (bass) are clearly out for blood.
“If you need a soundtrack to an evening of Germs burns and mind altering mayhem followed by warm heart felt embraces and skid marks this is the band for you,” declares the band’s ministry of propaganda. “The soundtrack to the real apocalypse has arrived and is waiting for you at your favorite record store. Real Rock n’ Roll is alive and well, the torches have been passed and the Molotov cocktails are being lit and thrown. Miranda and the Beat are the wild fire you have been waiting for to light under the collective asses to destroy patriarchies, topple kingdoms, smash colonies with a bold middle stink finger in place.”
However, when asked to offer their thoughts on their latest single “Anxiety,” the group got super anxious.
“This song legit causes anxiety,” Zipse responded to a quote request. “This goddamn song has got me so stumped.”
Oh, and apparently there was supposed to be a video, but they couldn’t make it happen.
“Shot two different ideas for music videos and pulled two all-nighters this past week with work trying to get them together between working this job and nothing was looking good enough to put out,” she added. Too bad, really, cuz the tune kicks ass and deserves a music video.
