LISTEN: Another Glory Shares ‘I’m Comin’ Home’
Debut LP from Portland duo due out Oct. 18th

Another Glory is a new band from Portland, Oregon, comprised of two longtime friends in vocalist/guitarist Nathan Trueb and drummer José Medeles.
The pair got together for this project after Medeles — who has played with such stalwarts as The Breeders, Modest Mouse and Ben Harper — reached out to Trueb to compliment him on a recent release.
“Nathan had put out this beautiful acoustic EP that I loved, and I just had to reach out to him. It was just so impressive,” said Medeles. “I asked to see if he wanted to jam, like we used to do in high school, and he was into it.”
Trueb, who was a fan of José’s drumming and a customer at his community staple, Revival Drum Shop, figured it could be a cool opportunity.
“José is a pillar of this community, and he’s been a big supporter of my music since my early days,” Trueb added.
After a few sessions brought about tantalizingly fruitful results, the duo asked a mutual friend, Gus Berry, to record some material with them. They headed to veteran Portland producer Tucker Martine’s studio and laid down six tracks, two of which appear on the group’s self-titled debut album.

The remainder of the record, meanwhile, captures the essence of those early takes with an electric folk sound that exists somewhere between the commercial and the avant-garde. Guests include Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, Ben Harper and Steve Berlin of Los Lobos.
“Nathan doesn’t really come from the avant-garde world, but when he does, it’s brilliant because he’s such a prolific player,” José explains. “I’m glad that I can pull that out of him.”
Trueb concurs, noting: “We both knew that if we wanted to do this, and actually pursue Another Glory, we would have to do it the right way. We took our time, and the result is one we’re both proud of.”
Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere “I’m Comin’ Home,” the second single from Another Glory, which comes out on October 18th.
“Wrote this song while driving across the middle of the U.S. with my dad,” Trueb explains of the song. “We were working, getting up at 4am every day and driving through several states. We were in Kansas. I had read Truman Capote and we drove past the Clutter’s house, Dodge, even went to a strange Wizard of Oz museum. So much American history and it felt very nostalgic — even more so now that I’m older and that history intertwined with my own.”
“Inspired by hearing Nathan’s chords and story, I wanted to approach the drum cadence with the same feel and tale of nostalgia, dusty roads and mystery,” adds Medeles. “To celebrate the feeling of the familiar and returning home.”
