WATCH: Tim Easton Honors Jacqueline Bisset on New Single

Forthcoming album, Find Your Way, out May 17th

Jacqueline Bisset is a goddess of 70s cinema, having starred in such celluloid classics as Airport, Murder On The Orient Express and The Deep, not to mention her star turn as Miss Goodthighs in the 1967 James Bond spoof Casino Royale.

For Tim Easton, it was initially the British legend’s first name that propelled him to write the song “Jacqueline,” the first single from the rock ‘n’ roll folksinger’s forthcoming album Find Your Way, due out May 17th on the Tulsa, OK-based label Black Mesa Records.

“This album is made of songs that are autobiographical and others that are just made up,” he tells Rock & Roll Globe. “I simply liked the name, probably since first seeing Jacqueline Bisset images from the 60’s and 70’s. She is still working today and she never married or had kids. That is an incredible story. Anyway I have wanted to write a song using that name forever. I bet if I look hard enough this is about somebody in my life, but really I just made it up one day during the lockdown, pretending I was talking to her. Personally, I hear John Hiatt’s influence in this one, especially with that ‘drive south’ comment.”

For Easton, who recorded Find Your Way in Canada with an all-Canadian crew of studio musicians: Geoff Hicks (Colin James, Barney Bentall), Jeremy Holmes (Steve Dawson), Jeanne Tolmie, Ryland Moranz and Tyler Lieb (both play with Leeroy Stagger), Miss Bissett deserves more flowers than she gets.

“Jacqueline Bisset is an actress that I think deserves more credit for breaking molds,” he proclaims. “I know my song and video border on the obsessive, but really I’m a passive super fan, and I want more people to acknowledge her today. She was just such a badass. The song isn’t exactly about her, but it could be sung to her. I noticed another film reference in the lyrics in the line ‘we know there’s a dozen engines way down deep,’ which could be a tip of the hat to The Deep, which would be where I was first mesmerized by her character on the big screen. She remains a magnetic force of independence and strength.”

Watch the video, which utilizes a 1984 interview with longtime Los Angeles TV and radio personality Steve Edwards, below and pre-order Find Your Way right here. It’s a fantastic album of signature Easton songwriting that’s worth picking up.

Easton is also on tour on through the summer, including a host of dates in Japan starting this Friday, the dates for which you can find below.
