Rock & Roll Globe Co-Hosts Live Event on Record Store Day
Showcase part of a weeklong festival curated by our sister site Book & Film Globe

Heads up, Rock & Roll Globe readers, on some cool happenings going down in our multiverse this coming weekend.
As those who follow this site may or may not know, our parent company, Sea of Reeds Media, owns two excellently quaint independent bookstores in New Jersey: The venerable Book House in Millburn, and the recently-opened Book House in Long Branch on the Jersey Shore.
Next month, our sister site, the mighty Book & Film Globe, will be hosting a weeklong festival at both locations filled with comedy, readings and live podcasts and running from April 16th to the 20th.
On April 20th, which also happens to be Record Store Day, Rock & Roll Globe will be co-hosting a fun-filled afternoon of live music at The Book House in Long Branch as part of the festival. So after picking up all that tasty exclusive vinyl at your favorite record shop, we hope you can swing by to keep the fun afloat.

Among the performers include RNRG contributor Dan Weiss, known onstage as Dan Ex Machina, who has been lauded by legendary music critic Robert Christgau and shared bills with such names as Low Cut Connie, Wussy and Tim Fite. He creates true school indie rock like they used to make on Homestead Records back in the day.
Also on hand will be another longtime Globe scribe in Jim Allen of the New York City country band The Ramblin’ Kind. The Bronx-born Mr. Allen will be performing an acoustic set comprised of material from his group’s impressive catalog and his own songbook that goes back over 30 years. If you’ve read his work here, you know Jim is a man of exquisite music taste and it’s reflected in the tunes he pens. In fact, folk giant Eric Andersen once hailed him as the best songwriter in New York City.

Capping off the event will be the advanced art-pop stylings of Austin, TX artist and Book House Long Branch manager Meggan Carney, who weaves together an intricate blend of psychedelic indie rock and heady acid folk that feels like the sonic love child of St. Vincent and Beck. It’s been about a decade since she last posted music on her BandCamp page, and we can only hope she debuts some new songs during her set on 4/20.
Co-hosted by Book & Film Globe’s Neal Pollack and Rock & Roll Globe’s Ron Hart, we hope you will take the trip down the shore to join us in what we promise will be a real good time together.
