Buddy Red, the second-generation musician who is helping keep the blues alive in 2026, is back with his debut studio EP called Bad News that’s due out Nov. 20.

But first, the son of acclaimed Atlanta rapper T.I. offers a taste of what’s to come as he expands the realm of his artistry on the playful first single “Sexy” featuring fellow blues man David Ryan Harris.

“That’s me playing drums on Sexy! Bass and Guitar too! But I still felt like something was missing,” Buddy tells Rock & Roll Globe. “I managed to have David Ryan Harris grace my studio session one day, and he added more directions for me to follow.

“This results in ‘Sexy’: Me yelping and growling in a microphone like a ‘horn dog’, at a woman I’m trying to convince to be ‘alone with me.’ Sometimes I get embarrassed when I listen to this song in front of people. But I like to have fun, so I made a silly song!”

Check below for the video for “Sexy,” which was directed by Buddy himself.

The ‘Sexy’ music video is my directorial debut,” he proudly proclaims. “I was a bit nervous once I realized it was all up to me to make this vision come alive, so I wrote out my plan on paper.
The whole premise of the video revolved around me recording the song at the studio from top to bottom (drums, bass, guitar, cowbell, and vocals), then celebrating in the other room with friends! I have an old digital 8 video camera, and the main theme of the song (along side the whole Bad News EP) is grit, so I figured the old camera would really help sell it. The glitchy footage was no filter! My camera is genuinely falling to pieces internally, so it’s a miracle the footage was extracted!”

Buddy will mark the release of Bad News, which also features a cameo from rapper Lil’ Wayne on the title cut, with a special show with his power trio at Atlanta’s Eddie’s Attic, a slot at the Folk Alliance Music Conference in Chicago and a triumphant return to SXSW in 2027.

“I’m trying to take my audience with me in a time machine, to be reminded of a time that they haven’t lived and I haven’t lived. I want us to search for it together,” he concluded. “I want people to listen to my music and hear that it’s not perfect, but it has moments of perfection that can only come from the human experience.”
