Buddy Red Sells His ‘Soul’
Listen to the latest single from rising blues lion

The blues in 2025 is alive and well, and living in the sound of Buddy Red, a young gunslinger from Atlanta, Georgia looking to bring his art back into the American spotlight.
By combining his loves for the likes of Pink Floyd, James Brown and Jimi Hendrix, Red — the son of rapper T.I. — delivers a powerful punch of homebrewed soul on his latest single “Sold His Soul,” the video for which you can watch below.

In fact, the song itself bears the hallmarks of the classic Floyd tune “Time,” albeit with his own distinctive twist swirled within a psychedelic melody.
“’Sold His Soul,’ began taking shape the moment I first heard Pink Floyd’s ‘Time,’” he explains to Rock & Roll Globe. “This song became my personal challenge at 19 years old, and would not begin developing fully until traveling alone to the mean streets of New York from Atlanta at 23. Once I got away from home, I got away from my self perceived ‘rules’ and screamed in a way I never had before: ‘He Sold His Soul for a DOLLAR!’”
A standout on the Atlanta underground live music circuit, “Sold His Soul” is just a taste of what to expect when you experience Buddy Red on record or in concert, as his performance and presence as a fixture of the Northside Tavern’s esteemed jam sessions has certainly prepared him for the big time.
“My guitars and vocals have the energy of a hot-wired 70’s rocker,” he proclaims in the context of the deeper instrumentation on hand during the making of “Sold My Soul.” “But the first time addition of an organ and other keyboards in a Buddy Red Production adds depth and body to the overall message: ‘A young man is trying not to lose himself despite the worldly influences affecting him.’”

Catch Buddy on tour through Oct. 16, where he will perform at the Mondo.NYC music conference, curated by the folks who used to run the CMJ Marathon in the 90s and 00s.
