The North Country Shares Video for “Be Here Be Now”

The Washington D.C. experimental pop band’s new album, The Future’s All We Need, out April 26th

Washington, D.C.-based experimental pop band The North Country have a new album coming out this spring.

It’s called The Future’s All We Need and it will be released on April 26th from our friends over at Misra Records. And Rock & Roll Globe is proud to premiere the LP’s second single and accompanying video “Be Here Be Now,” whose message of mindfulness in the moment is washed in a kinetic, synth-colored groove that personifies why this band fancies themselves as “indie pop futurists.”

“This song is a reminder to be present,” explains The North Country’s lead singer Andrew Grossman. “’Be Here Be Now’ is a song about trying to stay in the moment in spite of all distractions. Screens throwing bright bold flashing colors at you, images of half naked people photoshopped to oblivion, and all of it is for the benefit of some faceless corporation.”

The video for “Be Here Be Now,” meanwhile, was conspired by Grossman and masterfully edited by the band’s guitarist Jon Harmon as the pair co-directed and co-produced the clip together in tandem.

“I feel like the aesthetic choices we made for the video do support the message of the song,” Harmon details. “The simplicity of the creative treatment feels resonant with being present and not overthinking or getting in your own way. The edit is pretty straightforward, especially compared to what we’ve become used to with TikTok being such a driving force for visual aesthetics in our culture. No split screen, crazy compositing, transitions, or even camera moves.”
