We got a real barn burner of a look back on The Breeders’ Last Splash when it turns 30 at the end of August.

But in the meantime, we thought to pass along this bit of news regarding this alt rock classic as their longtime label 4AD Records has announced a new 30th Anniversary edition of Last Splash due out on September 22nd.

Now for those of you who, like me, own that incredible 3CD edition of Splash that was released for the album’s 20th Anniversary, fret not. This is no mere retread of the same material, but rather a remaster from the original analog tapes that were thought to have been lost forever. The discovery also unearthed two unreleased tracks not available on the other reissue. One of which, “Go Man Go,” was made available today in the form of a new video directed by Brandon Weaver of Ironwing Studios.

The Breeders Last Splash (30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition), 4AD Records 2023

Entitled Last Splash (the 30th Anniversary Original Analog Edition), this special edition will span two 12” 45rpm vinyl discs, plus an exclusive, one-sided etched 12” disc containing two forgotten tracks from the original Last Splash sessions: ‘Go Man Go’, a track that Kim co-wrote with Black Francis, and ‘Divine Mascis’, a version of ‘Divine Hammer’ with lead vocals provided courtesy of Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis.

To further commemorate Last Splash at 30, the band will be hitting the road in September for a special run of shows performing the album in its entirety. They will be supported by Belly (formed by original Breeder Tanya Donelly), Screaming Females and Horsegirl in select markets. Tour dates are below.

The Breeders are Kim Deal, Kelley Deal, Josephine Wiggs and Jim Macpherson.
