Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Announces 2023 Nominees
Kate Bush, Iron Maiden, Soundgarden, Warren Zevon and The White Stripes among this year’s list of hopefuls

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has chosen a wildly diverse array of 14 nominees for its forthcoming class of 2023.
The slate casts an incredibly wide net that includes the art pop of Kate Bush, the jazz-hop of A Tribe Called Quest, the outlaw country of Willie Nelson and the heavy metal majesty of Iron Maiden in a long overdue decision that will certainly please Eddie Trunk.
The complete lineup of artists selected by the Hall’s nominating committee as 2023 contenders are as follows:
Kate Bush
Sheryl Crow
Missy Elliott
Iron Maiden
Joy Division/New Order
Cyndi Lauper
George Michael
Willie Nelson
Rage Against The Machine
Soundgarden
The Spinners
A Tribe Called Quest
The White Stripes
Warren Zevon
You got 14 nominees on a Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ballot for the first time: Missy Elliott, Warren Zevon, Willie Nelson, the White Stripes, Sheryl Crow, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael and Joy Division/New Order. For many scrutinizing rock fans, the inclusion of Warren Zevon has been long overdue, and hopefully the decision makers at the Rock Hall will do the right thing on the 20th anniversary of his death.
Meanwhile, moving into the 25 year criteria is Missy, whose classic debut Supa Dupa Fly was released in July of 1997, and the White Stripes, whose eligibility squeaks by on the back of its debut single, “Let’s Shake Hands,” which was released in March of 1998.
Among the artists being left off the ballot from last year’s nominations: Devo, Dionne Warwick, Beck, the New York Dolls, Fela Kuti and the MC5.
Is your favorite artist still missing from the mix? We want to know!
Let the debates begin!
