WATCH: Jeff Larson Looks Forward to “This Summer”
New solo album, Adobe Home, out this Friday

Talking about Rock Hall snubs, America is a rock band that long deserves its due.
And few modern acts give the group their flowers like Bay Area singer-songwriter Jeff Larson, whose first solo LP in a decade, Adobe Home, pays homage to America by working closely with the band’s frontman Gerry Beckley as the album’s co-producer.
“This project started in 2020 when I just moved to the San Diego area,” says Larson about the creation of Adobe Home. “Exploring and learning about my new surroundings influenced several songs, starting with ‘Adobe Home,’ ‘This Summer,’ and ‘Better Part of the Morning.’ I’ve continued my ongoing collaboration with co-producer and friend, Gerry Beckley. We help each other as sounding boards on the production side, we co-wrote one song, and he plays bass and keyboards throughout the album.”

Adobe Home doesn’t come out until this Friday, but Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere the album’s second single “This Summer,” which features background harmonies from Beckley and Brian Eichelberger of the current Beach Boys lineup and Brian Young from Fountains of Wayne on drums.
“I wrote and recorded the song as a personal soundtrack to the Summer of 2022,” Larson explains. “From what I recall, I was walking on the coast and talking into my phone with lyric and melody ideas from overhearing people visiting, reunions, and embracing surf, sun, and all the usual clichés. I also pulled from my own childhood with memories of riding bikes and just playing until the sun went down.”
Indeed, this fantastic song no doubt alludes to the ebullience of a California that only comes from being a native of the land.
“I would hate to say I am defined by a state or state of mind; I’m not, but I do love ‘the place’ that is California,” he admits. “It is far more varied than most people see. There are plenty of issues, but that is true almost everywhere. I do know what it is to commute in traffic. I know the pace of technology intimately, having lived within it. I have raised a family here. All said, I am content with this place and still see it as inspiring.”
