The Who Live at Shea Stadium to See Official Audio Release

The famous 1982 concert will be released on CD and vinyl March 1st

They might have been upstaged that night by opening act The Clash, but The Who’s big 1982 concert at Shea Stadium was a formidable gig in its own right as well.

Now, for the first time, a proper audio document of the complete show will be available via Mercury Studios on March 1, 2024. Those who’ve seen the DVD or Blu-Ray of the concert that was released in 2015 can certainly attest to the power of the combination of Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend, John Entwistle and Kenney Jones on this night as they barreled through such popular Who fare as “Pinball Wizard,” “Won’t Get Fooled Again,” “My Generation,” “Substitute,” “Who Are You,” “I Can’t Explain,” “See Me Feel Me” and “Baba O’Riley.”

Fans of the early ‘80s Who will also be keen on the number of songs the band plays from their underrated 1982 LP It’s Hard, including “Dangerous,” “The Quiet One,” “Cry If You Want” and naturally the album’s biggest hit “Eminence Front.”

The Who’s 1982 North American tour was their last to feature Jones on drums and the band did not tour again until 1989. This recording features the show from the second of their two nights at New York’s Shea Stadium and was recorded on October 13th 1982.
