Billy Joel performs landmark concert at Madison Square Garden; joined by Bruce Springsteen for two Boss faves

Last night, the Twin Towers of Tri-State rock converged once again as Bruce Springsteen joined Billy Joel for the Hicksville native’s 100th show at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The surprise went down shortly after midset, following an already knockout combination of “Zanzibar,” “Sometimes A Fantasy,” and “She’s Always A Woman,” as Billy and The Boss slayed the Garden crowd with rousing versions of “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and “Born to Run.” Thank goodness several hundred people were recording on their phones for those of us who couldn’t score tickets.
This footage from YouTube user RockGalMel, however, is the best of what’s out there.
Billy Joel played his first show at Madison Square Garden on December 14, 1978.
