Pansy Division To Celebrate 30 Years of Undressed in Queens, NY
Catch them at TV Eye in Ridgewood on Saturday November 18th

Being openly gay in the punk world during the 1990s was no doubt fraught with danger and bigotry at every turn.
But that never seemed to concern San Francisco’s Pansy Division, who since their formation in 1991 has been one of the loudest, proudest advocates for LGBTQIA+ rights. And it was that sense of bravery which earned the band accolades from champions like Howard Stern, whose show was ground zero for toxic homophobia at the time.
“We tried to turn our alienation into something positive,” says the group’s frontman Jon Ginoli. “Instead of being depressed about it, we tried to make music that would make us—and our audience—happy. We could laugh about it, so we put that joy into the music.”

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Pansy Division’s landmark debut LP Undressed, which isn’t being reissued at press time but rather celebrated in the form of an East Coast tour commemorating the milestone.
And this Saturday, the current incarnation of the Pansies are going to be in New York City, playing TV Eye in Ridgewood, Queens. They’ll be playing with two other fantastic punk bands in the Ritchie White Orchestra and Choked Up, so get there early.
