Following the buzz ignited by the singles “Marionette” and “Wheels Within Wheels,” New York City songwriter Selett releases her eponymous debut EP today on all DSPs.

“SELETT has no real rhyme or reason to it, funny enough,” she explains of the collection. “That isn’t because it doesn’t hold meaning or that I don’t have anything to impart about it. The thing is that I wanted to put out a full length because I have all these songs, but sometimes you just have to start somewhere.

This EP is a testament to the power of vulnerability and self-discovery. Thematically this EP is just a taste of what my creative being is about.”

No doubt fans of Lana Del Rey and Angel Olsen will appreciate, but with a defiance that echoes the spirit of Sinead O’Connor, aided by the craftsmanship of such collaborators as David Terranova, Charley Drayton and Parker Kindred among others.

In celebration of her self-titled release, Selett’s also reveals the visualizer to the hazy opening track “Hey Hey,” the visualizer of which Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere today on the site.

“In ‘Hey Hey’ I’m delving deep into the human quest for dignity and meaning,” Selett reveals. “It’s like a dance, intimate moments unfolding, kissing away fog, and passion expanding into the cosmos. There’s a lot of metaphorical guidance and searching. It’s a poetic journey, inviting you into this shared mystery, where each heart finds echoes of its own history. It’s emotional, it’s transformative, and it’s all about resonating with the messy, beautiful human experience.”

From the confines of a basement apartment in the East Village, Selett has no doubt created an ambitious minor gem that deserves to be on the radar of such revered labels as 4AD and Dead Oceans.
