New album, Not That Bad, comes out December 9th
Parisian-turned-New Yorker Lizzy Young returns on December 9th with a new album entitled Not That Bad.
Following up her visual debut CooCoo Banana, the lo-fi electropop artist’s second LP features songs based around the experiences of women in the modern age, recorded on her living room floor and partially inspired by legendary outsider artist Moondog.
“This album is my love letter to everyone who identifies as a woman,” she says. “I find it complicated to be a woman, even in 2022, and I need to talk about what I know best.”
Young also utilizes the Brooklyn nightlife to propel the music as well, manifesting “something that people would want to play in a sweaty club,” she says. “A little different from what I’ve been hearing the last couple of years. Something that fits the times: dark, groovy, slightly funny, and a little apocalyptic.”
Lizzy has just unveiled a new video for the key album track “Everything is Beautiful,” which Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere today on the site.
“I imagined the video as a single-take journey from the streets of Brooklyn to the skies of New York City,” she explains about the video’s impetus. “[I wanted] to show how insignificant we can feel but also how everything is made up of many smaller details. A good reminder that life is a matter of perspective.”
