Seattle’s Jupe Jupe are back with a kinetic new album, King of Sorrows, set to come out on Feb. 27, 2026.

Their latest full-length is an urgent eight-song set that finds the band taking a darker, more angular, more concise and more direct approach to a sonic palate based on their favorite records by The Cure, Psychedelic Furs, Siouxsie and the Banshees and Depeche Mode.

Here’s what the band had to say about the single:

“A Game of Wait and See is an efficient, and urgent, danceable darkwave song, perfect for all who wrestle with ambiguity. Whether it’s a year from now or an hour from now, the uncertainty of outcomes can be unsettling the deeper we invest in the need and desire for something.

“[The song] jumps out at the top with a synth call and a guitar response, 155 bpm high-hat & kick pattern familiar to anyone who stayed at a club much later than expected, and two basses: one pulsing synth and one deep accenting string. The vocals take us through the storm and stress of me-culture. Who among us hasn’t opened a hole inside themselves? We’ve invited in a type of pain that comes from attention seeking/confirming software. Maybe we didn’t realize just how poisonous this syrupy social bunkum is. Maybe we can’t yet see the extent of rot on the cords that tether us.

“But when the speed of social stimuli overwhelms the time lag of validation the pain can be insidious. Slowly making the monsters out in the world less scary than the monsters in the mirror. What if they aren’t watching me? With outcomes unknown we can only wait and see.”
