Today marks Tom Waits’ 69th trip around the sun.
And as we continue to revel in his performance in the Cohen Brothers’ new classic The Ballad of Buster Scruggs and anticipate a follow-up to Bad As Me sometime in 2019 or 2020 (we hope), please celebrate his birthday with us by checking out this Spotify mix we just threw together.
As a personal fan of the Kathleen Brennan era, this set is heavy on Tom’s kitchen sink soul, but there’s enough of the Asylum stuff on here to keep fans of the more conventional Mr. Waits satisfied all the same.
