Black Sabbath to Reunite for Final Show
Mega concert takes place in Birmingham, England, on July 5

For the first time in 20 years, the original lineup of Black Sabbath will reunite for what’s being billed as the last-ever concert of the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.
The Back to the Beginning charity concert will take place on Saturday, July 5, at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, where Sabbath first got their start 55 years ago. The massive bill includes Metallica, Pantera, Slayer and a supergroup of Billy Corgan, Slash, Fred Durst, Wolfgang Van Halen and Tom Morello, who serves as the event’s musical director.
“This will be the greatest heavy metal show ever,” the Rage Against the Machine guitarist proclaimed.
Fleshing out the lineup are Gojira, Anthrax, Alice in Chains, Mastodon, Lamb of God, and Halestorm. Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan and Slash are also on the lineup. Osbourne will be playing a brief solo set with his own band before coming together with his Sabbath brothers for one last performance.
More artists yet to be announced will also join Ozzy, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler and drummer Bill Ward on this July event.
“It’s my time to go Back to the Beginning….time for me to give back to the place where I was born,” Ozzy said in a public statement. “How blessed am I to do it with the help of people whom I love. Birmingham is the true home of metal. Birmingham Forever.”
Posting to his Instagram account, Butler offered, “Looking forward to seeing you all on July the 5th at Villa Park. It’ll be the first time the Black Sabbath played has played in Aston since we used to live there. And where we wrote most of our first album — places like Aston Community Center and Burlington Hall down High Street.”
“So it’s a return home for us when it all started and it will be a very special occasion for us all. See you there,” remarked Butler
In a recent interview with BBC News, Sharon Osbourne confirmed that her husband is “doing really great.”
“He’s so excited about this, about being with the guys again and all his friends, she stated. “Ozzy didn’t have a chance to say goodbye to his friends, to his fans, and he feels there’s no been no full stop. This is his full stop.”
