Steve Albini Wins World Series of Poker
Legendary producer secured coveted gold bracelet and $106,000 purse at Vegas event

This past February marked the 20th anniversary of Shellac’s math punk masterpiece Terraform, which received but a blip of acknowledgment in the music press. Nevertheless, Steve Albini is in the news a good season before the inevitable tsunami of “In Utero at 25″ thinkpieces flood the Internet.
And for something insanely cool, too.

As anyone who has followed the career of this most distinctive and distinguished producer can attest, Albini is a serious poker player. And this past weekend, he won his first World Series of Poker tournament, finishing first in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event.
Just like he did on Songs About Fucking and the lone Rapeman classic Two Nuns and a Pack Mule with his guitar, Albini ripped through 309 other players to win the $106,000 prize and a coveted World Series of Poker (WSOP) gold bracelet.
