Van Halen Reveals Revamped ‘Truth’
Final studio album reissued Oct. 23
After a solid decade or so out of print, Van Halen’s A Different Kind of Truth will finally be reissued on Oct. 23 via Rhino.
Originally released on Feb. 7, 2012, it marked the band’s first full-length studio LP since 1998’s Van Halen III and their first work with original singer David Lee Roth since their smash album 1984. The LP also marked their very first without bassist Michael Anthony, who was replaced by Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang, who proved his chops swimmingly on such highlights as “Tattoo,” “China Town,” “Bullethead” and “Honeybabysweetiedoll.”
Given the excitement from longtime VH fans at the time, Truth debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 right out of the gate and, despite some grumbles about DLR’s vocal delivery, was universally revered by fans and critics alike.
Though this new edition comes without any kind of bonus material at all, in addition to CD, A Different Kind of Truth will be available as a 2LP set pressed on 180-gram vinyl in a double gatefold package.
A limited crystal-clear vinyl version will be available exclusively at participating indie retail stores and from Rhino.com. The lacquers were cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering.
