Sometimes, salvation comes in the form of a box set.

On December 1, the Black Crowes will be releasing a super deluxe version of their sophomore masterpiece The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, complete with previously unreleased studio recordings, rare B-sides and a 1993 live performance from Houston’s Sam Houston Coliseum.

The collection is available to pre-order now and comes in a variety of formats, including four-LP and three-CD box sets. In addition to the sonic ephemera, this new edition of Harmony will also contain a reproduction of the album’s original 132-page promotional hymnal containing the band’s insights about the album along with a set of photos taken during the recording sessions.

Originally released on May 12 1992 via Def American Recordings, Southern Harmony kept the band’s stateside hot streak going in light of the multi-platinum success of their auspicious 1990 debut Shake Your Moneymaker. It would quickly ascend to the top spot on the Billboard 200 album chart and go on to sell over two million copies in America alone. The album is still considered to be the group’s finest studio work to this very day.

The box set has been overseen by Chris and Rich Robinson and original album producer George Draklouias.

Additionally, the Crowes will opening for Aerosmith on their Peace Out farewell tour, which launches tomorrow at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. Get tour dates here.
