North Jersey’s own The Feelies will be releasing their very first official live album on October 13th via Bar/None Records.

And not only is it a live album, but one called Some Kinda Love and consisting of a full set of songs written for the Velvet Underground, culled from a sold-out performance on October 13, 2018 at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, NJ. Produced by Feelies founders Bill Million and Glenn Mercer, the concert was staged in conjunction with the opening of The Velvet Underground Experience exhibition in the East Village at the request of its curators.

The Velvets are no doubt a key component of the Feelies sound, and their deep knowledge of the VU lexicon is vociferously exemplified here, from their expert handling of the material from all four Velvets studio albums, from beloved fan favorites (“Sunday Morning,” “Sweet Jane,” “Rock & Roll”) to super deep cult cuts (“Head Held High,” “New Age,” “That’s the Story of My Life”).

Rock & Roll Globe is honored to offer an early taste of Some Kinda Love in the form of the Feelies’ rendition of the Velvets’ junkie anthem “I’m Waiting For The Man,” which you can hear below.

“‘I’m Waiting For The Man’ is from the Velvet Underground & Nico LP,” explains guitarist/vocalist Glenn Mercer. “It’s a cautionary tale about the dangers and temptations surrounding the fast paced, rat race existence of New York City life. Like a film noir snapshot set to music.”

The Feelies are Glenn Mercer, guitarist/vocalist Bill Million, bassist Brenda Sauter, percussionist Dave Weckerman and drummer Stan Demeski. Find them online here.

“I’m Waiting For The Man” will be available as a download on September 13th.
