The Saints’ Iconic Single “(I’m) Stranded” Gets First Reissue

Limited edition run expected to ship on August 2nd

Venerated Los Angeles indie In The Red Records has secured the rights to release the first-ever reissue of Australian punk legends The Saints’ debut single “(I’m) Stranded.” 

The song was manufactured originally at Astor Records Melbourne and received by guitarist Ed Kuepper on August 2nd 1976 in Brisbane, the limited run of approximately 530 copies of the 7-inch were split up and sent to various overseas music publications, a handful of Australian shops, plus Rough Trade London and Greg Shaw’s Bomp Records mail order in America.

“(I’m) Stranded” was the first punk release outside of the United States and The Ramones, beating The Damned’s “New Rose” to the punch by three months. It would be followed by a succession of classic albums in (I’m) Stranded (1977), Eternally Yours (1977) and Prehistoric Sounds (1978) that remain a cornerstone of punk rock to this day. 

Transpiring 47 years after it was originally unveiled by the Fatal label, the 2023 7” edition of “(I’m) Stranded” appears in a limited run of 2000 copies across three different colored vinyl versions and three different sleeves using the original UK, USA and Netherlands artwork.

Additionally, In The Red is also parlaying the release of the single into the very first merchandise line honoring the original lineup of The Saints. Three designs across two T-shirts and a hoodie open the collection and feature Ed Kuepper’s original hand-painted logo, the Fatal label 7-inch design and the rear sleeve graphic of Savage Pencil as featured on the 7-inch UK edition of “(I’m) Stranded.”

Available in all sizes and all cuts, the collection will also be made available locally in the UK via Wax Face Toys, in the USA via In The Red Records and in Australia via Artist First.

“(I’m) Stranded” ships on August 2nd.
