Portland, OR supergroup Eyelids returns with their fourth album A Colossal Waste of Light, which comes out on March 10th via Jealous Butcher Records.

Produced by R.E.M. guitarist Peter Buck, the album is filled with classic college radio jangle, now with an even steadier low end thanks to the addition of Camper Van Beethoven bassist Victor Krummenacher into the fold. With Buck and Krum in the mix, original Eyelids John Moen (The Decemberists), Chris Slusarenko (Boston Spaceships), Jonathan Drews (Dolorean) and Paulie Pulvirenti (No. 2) elevate their song craft to a level superseding their collective pedigree.

A Colossal Waste of Light might be a month away from worldwide availability, but Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere the video for its latest single “Lyin’ in Your Tomb” today on the site.

“’Lyin’ in Your Tomb’ is a tight little party song for oversensitive bloodsuckers feeling inconsolably disconnected and irreversibly ineffectual,” quips Moen, who also plays a daytime vampire in the video, about the song.

“The new video is directed by Victor Krummenacher, a co-founder of Camper Van Beethoven and a long standing member of Monks of Doom,” adds Slusarenko. “He has also done videos for John Doe and Dave Alvin among others. He was excited to do a sweet gothic take on F. W. Murnau’s Nosferatu as a kind hearted vampire. He was also really drawn to the life-sized paper mache versions of us artist Jo Hamilton had created for the new LP cover and included them in the video. He wanted to replicate the kind of indie videos we used to watch on television when we were in college and I think he gets it right.”

There’s 40 years of modern rock history packed into this band, and you can feel that legacy in every moment of their experience in this song, which also features Buck doing his thing on 12-string guitar.
