The Smashing Pumpkins Announce Open Call For New Guitarist
Find out how you could become a member of the band

Have you ever dreamed, Siamese or otherwise, about playing guitar for The Smashing Pumpkins?
Well, now is your chance to chase that goal as the band have announced an open call for a new guitarist on their Instagram page.
“The Smashing Pumpkins are in search of an additional guitarist,” the note wrote, adding an email address ([email protected]) for applicants to send their credentials. “The application process is open to anyone who might be interested.”
The open search comes in the wake of longtime guitarist Jeff Schroeder’s departure from the group this past October after playing with them for 15 years.

“Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path,” the guitarist said in a statement at the time. “The amount of incredible memories created over the last 16 years with the band are almost too numerous to quantify. Although it was a very difficult decision to make, I’ve decided to leave the band to make some space to explore a slightly different path. I wish the band all the success in the future. I will be watching and listening.”
Corgan, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin and multi-instrumentalist James Iha responded with a joint statement thanking Schroeder for his years of service.
“We thank Jeff for his ceaseless dedication to the band and our great fans,” they wrote. “Words can not express our gratitude and appreciation for the friend he is, and being there for SP in the good times and the tough times, too.”
Starting this summer, the Smashing Pumpkins will open for Green Day on their Saviors Tour of North America.
