Producer Mike Sebring talks about the new project

The Prettiest Flowers *ALL AT ONCE*, self-released 2026

In the last Spike Jonze film, 2013’s Her, Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with Scarlett Johansson, despite the fact that she is an artificial intelligence program.

Seattle’s The Prettiest Flowers followed a similar trajectory with their debut EP ALL AT ONCE, which was released on March 27, albeit with a twist.

For ALL AT ONCE, a man falls in love with someone he meets online. They connect deeply, yet when he presses to meet in person, she hesitates. Excuses follow. Finally, he asks the question: Are you even real?

Comprised of Mike Sebring, Wyatt Silva, Elliott Russell and a host of compatriots, the songs on this album for this inaugural LP took shape at Sebring’s Soundhouse Recording Studio, where the tunes were constructed in a pensive, Amnesiac-esque post-rock atmosphere that allows the story — crafted from the AI’s perspective in exploring affairs of the heart — room for atmosphere and vulnerability.

“At the core of this, ALL AT ONCE is a personal snapshot of the time I’ve spent with these two characters, Wyatt Silva and Elliott Russell,” Sebring tells Rock & Roll Globe. “In these times of division and confusion, it’s the culmination of the refreshing experience of working with very talented guys who were game for almost everything. At first I was afraid that they were just saying ‘yes’ to everything, but soon realized that they were indeed, considering the suggestions; we all stepped up to this project. It was challenging and creative. It was The Prettiest Flowers. And fun. Fun to come up with the story, fun to make the music and since I was the one that mixed the album, it was really fun to mix!”

According to Sebring, the band’s name is specifically tied to this music as well.

“The band name and the album title both come from the lyrics and are appropriate; I might even go as far as to say, in a poetic way,” he explains. “I’ve been around the block a time or two and I’m on a lot of albums but this one is probably the most likely to fulfill my dream of becoming a teenaged rock star! Ha!”
