Rhino Preps Deluxe Edition of The Replacements’ Let It Be
New version, expanded with rarities, out Oct. 24

The time has finally come in Rhino’s ongoing revamping of The Replacements’ catalog that we fans have finally been waiting for: “The Big Kahuna.”
I’m talking about Let It Be, the third album from Paul Westerberg, Bob Stinson, Tommy Stinson and Chris Mars that many revere as not only the Minneapolis band’s best album but a benchmark in what was then called college rock that helped set the table for the indie movement that would follow in the mid-80s.
Coming Oct. 24, the deluxe edition of Let It Be will be dished out on 4LPs and 3CDs and includes a 2025 remaster of the album alongside unreleased studio and live recordings.
The second disc of this set gathers a formidable range of unreleased material from the original recording sessions, including alternate versions of “Gary’s Got A Boner” and “Favorite Thing,” as well as previously unreleased outtakes “Who’s Gonna Take Us Alive” and “Street Girl.” The alternate version of “Androgynous” — which is available to hear below — features a different vocal take and the full piano intro, restored for the first time. All five bonus tracks from 2008’s Let It Be (Expanded Edition) are included here, newly remastered for this set.
The third disc, meanwhile, includes Goodnight! Go Home!, an unreleased 28-song performance recorded in August 1984 at the Cubby Bear in Chicago. It was sourced from an audience recording and has been remastered. The gig finds the band ripping through versions of “I Will Dare” and “Unsatisfied” before Let It Be hit stores in October of ’84 while also tossing the crowd rowdy covers of The Beach Boys (“Help Me Rhonda”) and Bad Company (“Can’t Get Enough”).
The 4LP set, meanwhile, comes with a bonus 10-inch containing six songs cut from a soundboard recording from Feb. 11, 1984 at City Gardens in Trenton, New Jersey. This show, according to the band’s original manager and co-founder of Twin/Tone Records Peter Jesperson, is storied in ‘ Mats lore because the band performed the ballad “You’re Getting Married” at Jesperson’s request and hails it as “one of the greatest moments ever.”
As a music journalist and singer and songwriter from the critically acclaimed DC-based pub-rock band the Paranoid Style, Elizabeth Nelson rightfully writes in the liner notes, “In form and function, The Replacements were the ultimate rebuke to masculine punk, and Let It Be, at its core, is a record for girls.”
See below for the full track list of everything included here, and see you at the record store on Oct. 24.
