LISTEN: Mabilene Releases New Album, Storm Born

Nashville singer-songwriter’s second LP out now

Mabilene Storm Born, self-released 2025

Nashville, Tennessee-based singer and songwriter Mabilene is back with a fantastic new album, Storm Born, which was released today on all DSPs.

On the follow-up to her debut LP The Other Side, the Houston, Texas-born artist collaborates with noted Music City producer Johnny Hanson (Avi Buffalo, Georgia Greene, The Monroes) to meticulously craft an album that brings brassy country landscapes into the context of an indie atmosphere with grace and aplomb.

Unlike the first record, which was tracked quickly with minimal overdubs, Storm Born is the result of patient curiosity. Over a two-year span, the duo followed the muse, free of pre-conceived notions of genre or style.

This project has been a true labor of love — written and recorded over the course of more than two years in collaboration with my incredible co-producer Johnny Hanson at PineTone Studio in Nolensville, TN,” she tells Rock & Roll Globe.

Storm Born is steeped in heart, grit and the kind of songs that are forged from dancing under life’s wildest skies. (Fittingly, I was born during a tornado in Texas.) The record is a reflection of resilience — an exploration of surrender, transformation, and the quiet courage it takes to keep creating through uncertainty. Every track carries a piece of that storm — the beauty, the chaos and the electricity of becoming — while reaching toward the deeper connection and community we build when we choose to keep moving forward together.”

With Storm Born, Mabilene encourages listeners to step out of their comfort zone in order to transform their perception of how we engage with one another on a human level.

“I’ve spent a lot of time meditating on the forces that keep us isolated and divided,” she said. “I’ve often been told that my songs offer people an opportunity to slow down, breathe and deeply listen. I just hope we can all try and look at the difficult and painful with the open heart of someone who is in the vulnerable space of seeking. I hope this album can be part of a tapestry of small miracles that bring us all together again.”

Listen to Storm Born below and order the album off Bandcamp this Bandcamp Friday.
