LISTEN: Lovely Colours Share New Single “Heartbeat”
Seattle band’s debut LP, Dancing With A Ghost, out in late May

With the rise of such acts as Tres Leches, Black Belt Eagle Scout and Deep Sea Diver, Seattle, WA is once again becoming a hotbed for fresh rising talent in modern music.
And with their infectious blend of arena-ready swagger and indie-pop charm, Lovely Colours is another band from the Jet City area that deserves our attention. Comprised of Devin Damitio (vocals), James Rosales (bass), Patrick May (guitar) and Steven Bingham (drums), these lads have hooks to spare on their debut album Dancing With A Ghost.
Immaculately executed and meticulously arranged, this first LP is a testament to this group’s knowledge of melody and harmony, crafting songs rooted in punk rock but garnished with elements of dance music and Britpop in ways that give Lovely Colours its own autonomy apart from the crowd.
Recorded around Seattle at various home studios, the album was mixed by James Rosales and mastered by Rachel Field at Resonant Mastering with the distinctive drum sound on these songs engineered by Cole Paramore.

Dancing With A Ghost isn’t out until late May, Rock & Roll Globe is happy to share its latest single, “Heartbeat,” with you today on the site.
“In the playlist era, we’re fans of the art of album sequencing, and ‘Heartbeat’ is our Track 7,” Rosales explains of the tune. “It was the last song written for the album and adds a sweeter texture and color to the record. I love the song’s minimal arrangement and immediacy matching the sentiment of the lyrics. We’re touching on some new musical territory for us as well, like the swing feel drums and ‘Dear Prudence’-inspired bassline. If honey could be moody, it would be this track. It’s one of our favorites for sure.”
