LISTEN: Christian Parker Shares Cover of The Byrds’ “She Don’t Care About Time”
New album, Change is Now: A Tribute to The Byrds, out March 22nd

Upstate, NY-based singer-songwriter Christian Parker continues to pay his respects to music heroes The Byrds on his upcoming LP Change is Now: A Tribute to The Byrds.
A sequel to his 2023 release Sweethearts, a full-throated homage to The Byrds’ country classic Sweetheart of the Rodeo, Change is Now lasers in on his primary influence from the legendary Los Angeles band – the songs of Roger McGuinn from the group’s catalog.
“Growing up, there were always these dividing lines. Either you were a McCartney fan or a Lennon fan,” Parker explains. “I always thought Dave Crosby was a cool cat, but I was never like Dave Crosby musically; I related more to Roger McGuinn. I wanted to honor that childhood hero on Change is Now.”
Rejoining Parker in the studio on piano is Earl Poole Ball, one of the original Byrds studio players. With hits “Ballad of an Easy Rider,” “Chimes of Freedom,” and “The World Turns All Around Her,” Parker pulls the heart-rending beauty from each song, capturing the groundbreaking character of the originals.

Yet while the album is largely focused on McGuinn tunes, Parker is offering an early listen to his rendition of a Byrds nugget written by Gene Clark with “She Don’t Care About Time” from the group’s 1965 LP Turn! Turn! Turn!. And Rock & Roll Globe is happy to share this lively take of “Time” with our readers today on the site.
“‘She Don’t Care About Time’ is the first track we recorded for both tribute albums to The Byrds,” he reveals. “This is the best song or one of the best songs written by Gene Clark. Originally on their B-side to the hit single ‘Turn! Turn! Turn!’ It was the perfect track to showcase songs that should have been a number one hit but were overlooked. Gary Jacob played the 12-string Rickenbacker, and he nailed McGuinn’s solo. Todd Staudinger sang the backing vocals; it was a 30-year reunion for us singing together. I was thrilled to have him as part of this project, as we always used to say, ‘We have the blend.’ This is one of my favorite tracks on Change Is Now.”
