Graham Parker Announces New Album
Last Chance to Learn the Twist arrives September 9 via Big Stir Records

British New Wave legend Graham Parker is now recording for one of our very favorite indie labels Big Stir Records.
And today he announced his debut on the venerated imprint with the upcoming release of Last Chance to Learn the Twist, which will be released on September 8th. The album also marks his first work with a killer new band, The Goldtops, comprised of bassist Simon Edwards, drummer Jim Russell, guitarist Martin Belmont and keyboard player Geraint Watkins. There is also contributions from the Easy Access Orchestra horns and backing vocal duo The Lady Bugs. Last Chance promises to be a diverse album, framed by Parker’s love for classic soul and earthy roots rock with just enough zing to remind fans of his late 70s/early 80s heyday.
“My usual rather conservative arrangements went out the window on this album,” Parker says in a press statement about the record. “The songs morphed as they grew: ‘Grand Scheme Of Things,’ and particularly ‘Sun Valley,’ became less about ‘parts,’ as in a typical pop song, but more about ‘movements.’ Bridges arrive in unusual places, songs were restrained and held to under three minutes, The Lady Bugs sang like street corner ruffians on ‘The Music Of The Devil,’ then floated like the choir girls that they actually are on the ballads, infused with old soul. The Goldtops gave me everything I wanted. Yes, I’m more than pleased with this one.”

Indeed, Last Chance to Learn the Twist promises a record filled with grace, honesty and wit that no doubt stands as Graham’s most anticipated title in years. It will be released on both CD and limited edition colored vinyl (scheduled for October) in addition to all your favorite streaming services.
Parker will be supporting the new album with a series of full-band tour dates in the UK this Autumn. He will also be appearing at The Turning Point in Piermont, NY, on July 21.

So great to see Parker still producing new music — I’ve been a fan of his from the get-go, but sadly haven’t seen him perform since the Squeezing Out Sparks days. I’m really looking forward to this one.
