David Lee Roth Is Still Talking Trash About Wolfgang Van Halen

It must be a generational thing with these Boomers or something, man.

I mean, what’s the point of starting trouble where there isn’t any? Such is the case of David Lee Roth, who has been dissing his band nephew Wolfgang Van Halen left and right as of late while holding up the availability of the final Van Halen studio album for no good reason.

Last October, Wolfgang told Eddie Trunk how 2012’s A Different Kind of Truth isn’t available on streaming platforms on account of “some people involved” who “do not like that record.”

“I hate to say it, because people will think I’m making stuff up, but it’s, like, man, I’d love to have the record back up there, but [Roth] doesn’t like it and he’s not working with us to get it back up there,” Wolfgang told Trunk. “So I hope people who like it have a physical version of it. [Laughs]”

Since then, Roth has taken to his YouTube channel to fire shots at Wolfgang. First, he put the Mammoth WVH frontman on blast for “throwing out” folks that DLR invited to shows during that final VH tour in 2015 in addition to questioning his musicianship in a clip entitled “This Fuckin’ Kid..” (since edited to “This Crazy Kid..”).

Now, the Eat ‘Em and Smile singer has posted a new video called “Family Therapy..” that finds Roth doing some psychoanalyst shtick about Wolfgang’s grievances over A Different Kind of Truth’s absence on streaming platforms. In the guise of the therapist, Roth proceeds to tell Wolf that the album was “DOA (dead on arrival)”, “KTC (kicked to the curb) and “a complete FP (faceplant).”

“Son, commercially speaking, you got your ass handed to you,” he states before speaking on behalf of drummer Alex Van Halen, claiming the two men did not want to pay for the attorney fees to land a more lucrative deal to get Truth back in circulation. Listen to the podcast below.

When asked by People Magazine about the feud, former Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar was quick to side with Wolfgang.

“Look, if you really think about what he said, it’s like do I sense a little tinge of jealousy in there or something?” Hagar said. “Does he feel like he’s left out or something? I mean, honestly, the only thing I can say without being cruel is he needs to find a new dispensary. That one’s not working for him.”

No word from the younger Van Halen in response to Uncle Dave’s latest swipes, but we think he should just let the old man continue to yell at clouds and get to work on that third Mammoth album.

I appreciate how DLR’s videos always have two periods after the title.
