LOOK: The 5 Best Bernie-in-Mittens Album Memes

Check out how these classic covers were improved with the addition of Senator Sanders in his sensible winter gear

I’m sorry. I’m sure most of you are over the whole meme trend of adding a cropped photo of Bernie Sanders in his big mittens and cozy winter coat at the Biden Inauguration to literally every image on the Internet.

But its too damn funny to ignore. I’m starting to see Bernie and his mittens in photos that aren’t even part of the gimmick. And after all of the blood, stress and tears shed over the course of a very uncivil war between the Libs and the alt-right wing nuts hellbent on owning them, it has been quite heartening to see both sides of the political divide come together to have a laugh over seeing these crazy crops of the Senator from Vermont as Han Solo in the Millennium Falcon, or in the principal’s office with Charlie Sheen in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or as the ghost twins in The Shining.

The mittens, meanwhile, were a gift from Vermont schoolteacher Jen Ellis, who gave them to Sanders more than two years ago and he began wearing them on the campaign trail. On brand with the Green Mountain state, the mittens were made from repurposed wool sweaters and lined with fleece made from recycled plastic bottles. And as of press time, Ms. Ellis’s mittens are all sold out on her Etsy shop.

“Thanks for all the interest in Bernie’s mittens!” she tweeted. “It truly has been an amazing and historic day! I’m so flattered that Bernie wore them to the inauguration. Sadly, I have no more mittens for sale. There are a lot of great crafters on ETSY who make them.”

So while you wait for more recycled mittens to get knitted, we gathered up our five favorite Bernie Inauguration Memes based on classic albums from across the sonic spectrum. There were more duds than gems for the most part, but the following send-ups were just too genius not to share with you.

5. There’s a fine line between the plainspoken poetry of Paul Westerberg and the political prose of Senator Sanders, which makes this version of the Mats’ 1984 fan fave Let It Be such a hoot. Can’t you imagine the lyrics to “Answering Machine” being recited by Bernie from the podium? Picture it in your head for a laugh (Source: Google)
4. Conspired by the must-read hip-hop site Pigeons & Planes finds the Senator from Vermont at the Duckworth family table on Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 breakthrough Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City, flanked by baby Kendrick , two of his uncles and his grandfather. And as with the rest of the elders, Bernie got the bar across his eyes. (Source: Pigeons & Planes)
3. Whatever PhotoShop wizard did this take on Neil Young’s 1974 Ditch era classic On The Beach actually put Bernie on the yellow beach chair. I mean, come on. (Source: Facebook)
2. In comparison to the shirtless dude that’s usually in that spot on the cover of Rush’s synth-rock masterpiece Power Windows, Bernie makes you wanna shut that window for him because it looks so cold in that room. (Source: Facebook)

1. Knowing what a funny sense of humor George Harrison had when he walked among us (hard to believe he’ll be gone 20 years this year), you know full well he would surely be laughing at this take on his triple album opus All Things Must Pass that handily won this challenge for all Beatles fans keeping score.
