WATCH: Jo Bartlett and Neil Haydock Share ‘Frozen In Time’

New EP, The River Or The Road, out Sept. 19

For fans of the short-lived folktronica movement in the late 90s/early early 00s, UK duo It’s Jo and Danny were one of the scene’s brightest talents, bringing together a dreamy template of laptops and acoustic guitars.

Neil Haydock played guitar for Jo Bartlett and her husband Danny Hagan, but Jo’s kinship with Haydock dates back to when she was a publicist for his band Submarine (who you need to check out) in the 1990s.

Jo and Neil reunited in 2021 when she invited the guitarist for input while writing her Indie Through the Looking Glass blog, which recounts Bartlett’s time as a “press officer” as they are called in England and founding the iconic Green Man Festival in Wales in the 2000s.

Fast forward to June of 2025, where Jo and Neil played a gig together and it went so well they decided to record some tunes written by Jo and Danny. Over a couple of weekends in July 2025 they sent each other files back and forth while they built the music.

The result is a beautiful late summer gift, The RIver Or The Road EP, featuring songs written in the folk tuning of DADGAD, invented by Davy Graham in the ‘60’s initially on his song ‘Anji’.

Jo says “I have a lovely brown Martin acoustic which I always have in DADGAD, something about the earthy colour of the wood and the lower tones of this tuning work perfectly for me.”

Rock & Roll Globe is honored to premiere the new single from the EP, “Frozen in Time,” and introduce this exceptional duo to American audiences.

“Danny and I wrote ‘Frozen In Time’ about a certain period in our lives,” Bartlett explains. “I collected footage from the Green Man Festival 2007 on YouTube for the video. Danny and I still ran the festival, (which we had founded) and it seemed like it rained all that summer. I would wake and look out at the rain in the morning and fall asleep to the sound of it hitting the windows. Other things were going on too, life was changing. In the end, the festival was a very muddy one but also an incredible weekend.”

Jo and Neil have a launch party, where they will be playing live, on Sept. 27 at The Hive Craft Beer Café in Crowthorne, England.

The River Or The Road EP will be available on all streaming platforms on Sept. 19.
